Style vs. Fashion

Firstly, lets explore the vast difference between fashion and style, shall we?

Fashion,ˈfaSHən/, noun,  a popular trend, especially in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior

Style, stīl/, noun,  a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed.

In other words, fashion and trends are constantly changing without an rhyme or reason other than simply to embrace whatever is new and popular. Style, on the other hand, is about applying your own principles to appearance with more emphasis on function rather than flair.

It may not be as exciting, but it appeals to me to wear comfortable, well tailored items that flatter my frame rather than trying to chase after whatever the latest rave-about trend is.

Style stands the test of time and is classic, simple and elegant. Developing personal style will allow you to discern key favorites in your wardrobe that you wear and love for years. Fashion is the flavor of the week and takes a lot of time, energy and money to keep up with. This site is about appreciating the former.
